Delilah Belle Hamlin is taking a break from social media to deal with mental health

Delilah Belle Hamlin is fed up with the toxicity of social media.

The 23-year-old model and clothing designer, who is the daughter of Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin, got vulnerable in a recent post on Instagram, where she touches on the pressure she faces for being perfect and reveals she’s taking a break from social media for the time being.

“On social media, we see what people want us to see,” she wrote. “I want you to see that I’m not perfect. For a long time, for many reasons, I didn’t take my physical and mental health seriously. I wasn’t taking it seriously as it confuses people and even myself sometimes because I look fine or I look healthy so people don’t understand fully when I ‘don’t feel good.’

“Right now I must prioritize my physical and mental health although I do feel weirdly guilty doing so,” she continued. “It’s starting to get a bit scary so if I’m not as present on social media, if I don’t meet deadlines, if I don’t seem myself, if I don’t respond to messages, this is why. I’m sorry to everyone, but for me, I need to take this break to save my energy and use it to heal.”

She concluded, “I may post when I feel up to it but I may just take time off Instagram to rest and heal. I love you all and I am so grateful for your continued support.”

The post was welcomed with an array of support, including from her famous mom and boyfriend, former Love Island contestant Eyal Booker.

“Proud of you & I love you,” Booker wrote.

“Proud of you my love,” wrote Rinna.

“Take all the time you need,” a fan added. “Social media isn’t even real. Focus on yourself, your health, your mind, and we’ll all be here to hype you up when you’re back.”

Hamlin has climbed the fashion industry ranks to walk the runway for designers like Tommy Hilfiger and Dolce & Gabbana. She even appeared in a campaign for Khloé Kardashian’s brand Good American.

The model has used her platform in the past to bring awareness to mental health.

In 2019, she revealed on her Instagram Stories that she’d been to rehab twice in 2018, calling the experience “the best thing that has ever happened to me.”

“I’ve been hesitant to share this information with you guys because there are a lot of you now and sometimes that scares me,” she explained at the time. “I strive to try my hardest to be a positive influence on my younger followers. I wanted to share this with you guys today because it could help at least one person struggling with anxiety and or depression.”

“I worked through traumas and self-love. But most importantly I learned what self-respect meant,” she continued before adding that no one should “take over your life and tell you who you are or how to be. Take control of your own life and get rid of all negative people and energy that may surround you. And I guarantee this will lead to a happier life even if it’s hard in the moment.”
